The signing of Kareem, grabbed off of Paschketball. That’s point guard Guy Rodgers standing next to KAJ. The oral histories tell of Rodgers as every bit the early innovator at the position that Cousy was, a phenomenal passer and ball-handler who introduced all sorts of new tricks to the league. From 1959 through 1967, he was either first or second in the NBA in assists.
I didn’t realize he was on these Bucks teams at the end of his career. Or that he’s not in the Basketball Hall of Fame, which now lets in inanimate objects. According to Basketball-Reference.com, his HOF probability is unremarkable. I think we have a cause on our hands.
