We got flack today for having left Amazing Grace and Chuck off of our movie survey. To this I say, darn. I’m pretty sure it was omitted because at one point, it was mentioned elsewhere but — sadly — didn’t make the final cut.
You know what else was left on the cutting room floor along with that? Any mention of Alex English’s poetry. Here’s a picture of his first book, 1979’s Sometimey Feelins Sometime. In 1986, he published two collections: The English Language and the totally awesomely titled If I Show You My Tenderness. Brett Favre loves that one!!!!!!
Here’s a 2007 review of If I Show You My Tenderness — headline, “Alex English Shows Us His Tenderness” — from Kelvin Brisco, literary critic for The Blythewood Leader. Scroll down a little on this site for a photo of English mid-reading.
