Triano said that in Rondo’s time with the team, he “was the best on-ball defender in the world’’ but his offense kept him off the roster.
“I just don’t think it was a real fit because he played the type of defense that they wanted, but offensively you’ve got to shoot the ball a little bit, especially from the 3-point line,’’ Triano said. “He ran the team really well, he could go past anybody, but I think it’s just a matter of chemistry and fitting. He was a heck of a player.’’
